What we do
Insurance products are predominantly sold directly to customers under the State brand, and through intermediaries such as brokers and agents under the NZI brand. Personal and commercial products are also distributed under third party brands by corporate partners such as large financial institutions.

In New Zealand IAG's operations are spread across our three distinct trading channels – State, NZI and Business Partnerships.
NZI
NZI is a leading commercial insurer in New Zealand and one of New Zealand’s oldest brands with a heritage dating back to 1859. IAG acquired NZI in 2003.
State
State is the brand for IAG's direct insurance business in New Zealand. It was established in 1905 and acquired by IAG in 2001.
AMI
IAG completed the acquisition of AMI in April 2012. The business was founded in Christchurch in 1926 as the South Island Motor Union. Since then, AMI has evolved to have the largest national branch network of any New Zealand fire and general domestic lines insurance company, with a head office in Christchurch, 73 branches and 21 agencies throughout the country, providing insurance cover for nearly 500,000 customers holding some 1.2 million policies.
